An Unopportune Moment


He glanced down the street from the shadows of the door. He saw no movement. He glanced at his watch; it was getting close to the hour at hand. The sound of a helicopter overhead somewhere brought back dark memories, memories he thought were buried underneath layers of hallucinogenic drugs.

Max looked down the street one more time. He unzipped his jacket and then made a dash for it. No sooner had he taken a step out than a bullet zinged over the brownstone.
